Verdict: The combination of science and religion, paired with surprising plot-twists and excellent character development make “Reternity” a compelling read.

In the heartwarming novel “Reternity,” Neal Wooten has woven together bible-based Christianity, cutting-edge science and a surprise element of fantasy. Wooten’s tale is a coming-of-age story concerning a young man conflicted between Christianity and a deep fascination with science.

Born and raised in a Midwestern Christian family, Johnny Maxwell—known as Max—is the perfect son, a loving friend to all, a brilliant student and an astute biblical scholar. Soon to enter college, Max’s religious parents fear that the society outside of his sheltered community will taint his belief in God. Their concerns grow daily as Max forges a close friendship with his eccentric science teacher.  When Professor Nowak gives his students a nearly impossible project, Max is intrigued and challenged. In his pursuit of the answer, Max stumbles upon a discovery so profound that its possibilities could change the world as he knows it. Fearful of the notoriety that it might bring, Max confides in Professor Nowak and relinquishes the data to him, agreeing to continue to work on the project while remaining anonymous.

It is at this point that “Reternity” switches gears into thriller territory. Max and Professor Nowak are fearless in their pursuit of the truth. With a fantastic plan, they take their once harmless experiment to the ultimate conclusion and leave the reader suspended between the present, the past and the possibilities that lie in the future.

The combination of science and religion, paired with surprising plot-twists and excellent character development make “Reternity” a compelling read.
